Another thing is that even though their seller feedback rating might be stellar, you will see if you read back in their 40/50 feedbacks per day that negative feedback gets buries almost instantly (and funny…most the positive feedback after negative feedback will take a point or two of the negative feedback proceeding it and comment in the positive on those points.
In December 2013 Theresa Regan posted the following figures on her blog representing how many sales we can expect a book to be achieving, depending on its overall sales rank. Of course, these numbers are likely to be rather arbitrary, but they’re interesting nonetheless. Note, these numbers do not apply to product categories other than books. It’s also important to mention again that it’s the sales that cause the ranking. The ranking doesn’t cause the sales.
Oh, one more Sometimes I buy books…I never buy books from the above as they are allowed to defy Amazon’s two day to ship product rule and wait until they have a couple thousand orders to send by bulk mail (sometimes takes a week). They also send product under media mail sometimes which is not media, thereby ripping off the post office and they have the audacity to send as printed bound material (meant for looseleaf bound, velostrip bound printed material, etc).

Hi Hutch, thanks for your comment. Do you have a link to a specific article which shows this? I agree that free vs paid has a massive bearing on movers/shakers, top 100 etc, but for the sales rank, the vast majority of data I’ve seen and experienced supports that the weighting between free and paid for this specific list is pretty equal- would love to see some quality evidence for the contraty though, and if I’m wrong, will be happy to change the article…
According to author Melissa Walker, whose new book Unbreak My Heart — out since May 22 — is her sixth young adult novel, Amazon Ranking Obsession (A.R.O) lessens with time. “With my first book, I checked Amazon NONSTOP,” she admits. “Every other author kept telling me the ranking didn’t matter, but it was the only number I had access to, so it had the power to make my heart soar (or drop). Now, I’ll admit that I still check it, but only once or twice a month (really!).” Still, it’s hard to resist even a mysterious number, if it’s right there in print.
Some of the worst are Silver Arch Books (huge offender), Hippo Books (huge offender), Free State Books, World of Books, Yankee Clipper, friendly books for you, melisasandy, the book guyz, YOB (your online bookstore), book depository US, booKnackrh, PBShop US and UK (claims to send from US, they don’t ) Anybook (a huge offender), academic book guy (REALLY a rip off artist).
Amazon has revealed its 100 best-selling video games of 2017. While the list encompasses all of the game-related products the online retailer sold throughout the past year, the actual list of best-selling games was dominated by Nintendo, which published seven of Amazon’s top 10 titles by platform in 2017.

As the Amazon Bestsellers Rank is relative to other products in a category, an increase in sales alone isn’t enough to increase rankings. To increase the Bestsellers Rank, your product must sell more units than other products in your category. This means that if there’s a sudden influx in overall sales in Juicing Machines, and everyone in that category starts to sell more products, the sellers may not see jumps in their Bestsellers Rank, as they might have hoped.
