Lower down on the book seller’s list are the dystopian classics “The Handmaid’s Tale” by Margaret Atwood, “Brave New World” by Aldous Huxley, “Fahrenheit 451” by Ray Bradbury, and “Animal Farm,” also by Orwell. Trump’s “The Art of the Deal” is also on the list, at #12 on Saturday afternoon.
Of course, there are some mysteries that we are better off not solving. Were any of us truly happier knowing what ingredients were in Pinkberry? I feel that way a bit about Amazon’s relatively new addictive tool for writers, Author Central. A much more seasoned novelist than I told me about this new service, still in beta form, which allows writers to track actual Nielsen BookScan weekly sales data (the industry standard for tracking print book sales), once the publisher has confirmed that the individual is in fact the actual author.
This is the second year in a row for strong holiday sales of Chromebooks, but it’s a bigger feat this year. Microsoft and its Windows hardware partners pushed out cheap laptops (around $200) to compete with the Chromebook this year. Based on Amazon’s information, three Chromebooks outpaced them.
Research over the past few years shows that the more devices Amazon sells, the more likely people are to use them to buy products from its website. In 2013, a report noted that Kindle-reader and tablet owners spent about 55% more money on Amazon than non-Kindle owners. And in 2016, Amazon Echo owners were found to spend 10% more money on Amazon than they did before they owned the device.
And even though the products shown might not be “bestsellers” themselves, you know that they are good enough products that lots of people within your niche are still buying them anyway, so they’re worth listing.
This new API lets us provide real-time repricing (basically we can make changes to your prices as your competitors make changes, rather than waiting an hour to see if any changes need to be made), 100% accurate knowledge of Amazon’s offer, featured merchant status of your competitors and we’ll always know the lowest FBA offer, even when the “bucket” system would make it unavailable.
As you can probably guess, some sellers have developed a blackhat form of ASIN piggybacking. Basically, it involves finding knockoffs of popular products and listing them with the same ASIN as their non-knockoff counterparts.
So, want to find out which games made it into the Top 10? Read on to check out Amazon’s roundup. But note that Amazon’s data comes solely from its own sales data. Games purchased digitally on consoles or at other retail outlets like GameStop, are not factored into the data. The year’s most popular games based on overall sales data, in other words, might be different.
Here are the top 500 sellers on the Amazon.es marketplace. The feedback shown is only that received from sales on the Spanish marketplace. The feedback data will vary from that in the global list above, for merchants selling to other European marketplaces using the same account.
There were other interesting nuggets of information in the Amazon press release, including the list of top-selling tablets. While it’s no surprise that Amazon’s own tablets made the top three list given heavy promotions, it is interesting that the Kindle Fire 7 bested the Kindle Fire 6 and the Kindle Fire HDX 7. Note that the top three are all smaller tablets. Buyers liked the 7-inch size in particular.
Hi Lola! Thanks for your comment. I’m getting this section (free vs paid) of the aricle changed, so this is made clearer- as mentioned in a previous comment, it seems the weightings are the same, but the lists are different…. Thanks for the heads up. I took a look at all of this in more detail and reaslised I needed to clarify this in the text., so hopefully those edits will be online soon!
That’s right — if a free book is ‘sold’, it’s weighted just the same as if a buyer forked over cash for the same title. The only thing, then, that matters is how many of whatever title have been snapped up, and that number in turns becomes part of the algorithm used to calculate the sales rank.
“This version of the Fire has a great screen display and looking at the technical specs Amazon made some major changes in the display/resolution, and the picture appears more crisp.” – Michael Gallagher, Amazon reviewer
Give your VPCs out to friends and family in exchange for reviews/sales metrics. This is also an awesome hack, which most of our clients use with great success. You can set up a VPC and discount your product down to your total costs (so you’re not taking a loss on each sale, but breaking even). Then give this VPC out to friends and family, and have them buy it through Amazon on their own. Most will be ecstatic to receive such a deeply discounted product, and you’ll get a ‘Verified Purchase’ review – as well as a boost in your initial sales data!

“Overall, it’s not necessarily something sellers don’t want to pay attention to but it’s not something we recommend they should focus on too much. In our opinion, sellers should play more attention to moving up in the SERP than a product’s BSR.”
The video game won the award for Best Family Game at the most recent Game Awards last December 2017. The sandbox video game exclusive for the Nintendo Switch, however, lost to “The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild” with the Game of the Year award.
The screenshot in your main article shows that Amazon treats paid and free sales differently – they are actually different bestseller lists. They used to be published side by side, with the top-selling free book in a category to the left of the top-selling paid book, but as your screenshot shows, they are now different pages.
