You may remember that Amazon keeps track of which products people end up buying after searching for a given keyword. They then use that data to help them decide which products are most relevant to the original search term.
Hi JT, as mentioned in the article, it’s based on recent sales relative to other books in the same category. By selling a copy, your rank will overtake thousands of other books instantly. If you sell 3 books in a short period, that’ll overtake a lot more books. If you sell hundreds of books in a single day, you could well jump to #1, but as your sales decline, other books will overtake you pretty easily. If you want to keep that rank, you have to maintain a good number of steady sales pretty much day in day out…
To me, intel is a greater problem than m$ – m$ has become irrelevant outside their sphere of influence but intel can buy their way into other markets as well, with their ill gotten loot and strong arm tactics.
With all the talk about Buy Boxes, you may think that’s the first thing sellers take notice of when deciding on a purchase. But as RepricerExpress is here to show you, there’s another heavily-weighted factor: the Best Sellers Rank.
Feedback isn’t a direct measure of success, of course, but it is an indicator of sales volume. Amazon says that most sellers receive feedback on 10% – 20% of their sales, so the number of units sold is likely to be 5x to 10x more than the feedback shown below. This does vary very widely, however, with feedback percentages between 2.5% and 18% claimed by sellers in the comments below.

I’m a partner at a marketing company called Brass Check. Over the years, we’ve helped launch 30 legitimate New York Times best sellers (including several at the sought-after No. 1 spot). My company has helped sell over 5 million books and advised or managed book launches with every major publishing house, including Amazon.
Although The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild looked and played better on the Nintendo Switch, it was also available on the Wii U. And before long, Wii U owners discovered it was the best game for that console.
Oh, and then there are the ones who claim to have U.S. warehouses and even state they send from such and such a state…many of these are located and your purchase takes up to three months to get.

I’ve just recently published on Amazon, and as I am from Ireland, most of my sales are coming from amazon.co.uk- yet for my sales rank it only seems to be counting the ones that come from amazon.com? Just wondering if you could shed some light on this for me?
Of course, there are some mysteries that we are better off not solving. Were any of us truly happier knowing what ingredients were in Pinkberry? I feel that way a bit about Amazon’s relatively new addictive tool for writers, Author Central. A much more seasoned novelist than I told me about this new service, still in beta form, which allows writers to track actual Nielsen BookScan weekly sales data (the industry standard for tracking print book sales), once the publisher has confirmed that the individual is in fact the actual author.

Amazon keeps a running tab of the best-selling items on its website. It’s a pretty comprehensive list with everything from video games to books to clothing. For example, the best-selling toys right now are rocket copters that you can fling into the air and the best-selling book is Hillbilly Elegy. The list gets updated each hour, so the items change frequently. But one list that rarely changes is the top-selling devices in the electronics section.
Although sellers on Amazon.co.uk have taken three of the top five slots this year, the list overall is still dominated by Amazon.com, with 584 sellers (551 last year). The UK is next with 205 sellers (234 last year). The US’s gain of 33 sellers in the top 1,000 is very close to the UK’s loss of 29 sellers.
With 2019 now officially here, it’s time to take a look back at last year to see what was and wasn’t so good. The folks over at Amazon have done just that, compiling lists of what sold best on their site throughout the year, and in the video game department, you’ll see a lot of familiar faces.
We may live in a mobile-obsessed world, but it turns out the best-selling consumer-electronics gadget on Amazon isn’t made by Apple or Samsung. Neither is it a Kindle—which is kind of shocking, given that Amazon promotes its own tablets and e-readers right on its own home page.
With over 12,000 reviews and a 4.5-star rating, it’s no wonder people keep coming back for more of this bentonite clay mask! Users report that it has helped them with issues like acne, clogged pores, blackheads, and oily skin.
In the span of one day, Michael Wolff’s bombshell book about President Donald Trump and his administration, Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House, moved 48,448 positions up on Amazon’s best-seller list to reach the no. 1 spot. As of 10:00 a.m. EST on Thursday, it has retained its status. (The book is still in pre-order stages; it will be released on Jan. 9.)
