“I am at work, next to the window, and there is a literal jackhammer outside the window. I have these headphones in, listening to music, and I can’t hear it at all. If you want that in your life, these are the earbuds for you.” – megallo, Amazon reviewer
In order to keep your ASIN piggybacking above the table, make sure that you’re shipping the exact same product – with the same brand, SKU and manufacturing code – as the listing you’re trying to piggyback.

According to Amazon, the Bestsellers Rank is calculated hourly, but sometimes there is a lag between increase in sales, and an improvement in a ranking. This lag is usually no more than 2 or 3 hours, but there is some debate over exactly how many product rankings are calculated hourly. This article on WebProNews, mentions that, in the books category, only the top 10,000 books are calculated hourly, whereas books with a ranking of 10,000+ are calculated once per day with ‘current projections as well as historic sales information play[ing] a key role in calculations’.

In the span of one day, Michael Wolff’s bombshell book about President Donald Trump and his administration, Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House, moved 48,448 positions up on Amazon’s best-seller list to reach the no. 1 spot. From afar, this laptop might be mistaken for a MacBook Air, which tells you a lot about its level of quality. Replete with an all-metal frame, this is probably one of the best-looking laptops for under 500 bucks. There are plenty of ports (old and new), 4GB of RAM and up to 512GB in solid-state storage. The cheapest models have a respectable Intel Core i3 processor, but you can get the more powerful i5 versions if you need that extra kick. Another dig at Apple? Unlike the Air, this laptop sports a fully HD screen.

As one of the biggest online retailers in world, Amazon’s sales soar when it comes to electronic commerce. The site’s robust library of products and prices make it a top destination for online shoppers — so what better place to check in on what your friends are checking out?
Amazon presents a very unique business opportunity and AMZ Trainer specialize in teaching merchants how to maximize that opportunity. With numerous training programs, courses and teachers out there, seeing the wood through the trees and being able to identify the good from the bad has become time consuming and confusing.
We think the two sources together provide good coverage but it’s not going to be 100%. A seller that’s missing from the seller directories (or who only sells in categories without a directory) and does not have an offer for any of the top 100 best sellers won’t be on the list. A summary of the methodology is in the “About the Data” section at the end of the article, but in less detail because it gets pretty complex.
Hutch, thanks for your reply, and thanks for the email you sent me! I’ve took another look at all of this, and want to thank you for pointing this out. I’m getting that section of the article clarified now, so it’s clearer that free and paid have separate besterller ranks, however the rankings seem to be calculated in the same way (or very similar).
